Four days to find out what's new on the market and tackle the challenges the industry’s future hinges on: in just over a month's time, Transpotec Logitec will be waiting for you at Fiera Milano with an exhibition curated around three key words.
Sustainability
A key feature of all next generation vehicles, all its meanings will be featured at the exhibition: low-impact diesel engines, gas-fuelled products and electric vehicles. Viable alternatives for both heavy and commercial vehicles, the green versions of which are crucial for last mile management.
Participating manufacturers - DAF, Ford Italia, Ford Trucks, Iveco, Piaggio, Scania - will express it across their entire range and different engines - Euro 6 diesel, gas and electric - and it will even be a core element in trailers and semi-trailers.
Nowadays, research into vehicle aerodynamics, materials and mechanics is actually strategic to saving time and fuel. Because being green is not just thinking about the future of the planet and its inhabitants, it is also guaranteeing Total Cost of Ownership, a key factor for any transport company, from minor players to the largest fleets.
Digitalisation
This will be fully apparent in the vehicles on show at Transpotec Logitec: sensor technology, driving control systems, voice-activated controls and devices connected to Alexa and Google Chrome. Digitalisation revolutionises how we drive, making the transporter’s life easier, safer and more convenient. Road monitoring systems, manoeuvring sensors and emergency solutions are already an integral feature of vehicles on the market.
Even, or especially, logistics is evolving thanks to connected systems that make optimising journeys, controlling loads at all times, tracking the entire logistics chain, optimising times and guaranteeing temperature monitoring (fundamental for food and pharmaceuticals) or delivery times, all possible. In short, digitalisation is the tool that is increasingly transforming the transporter into a logistician.
Professionals
The road haulage profession is at the heart of ongoing changes brought about by legislation and evolving technology on board trucks as well as the new logistics skills required nowadays. What is offered by most products exhibited is built around the haulier and their needs: aftermarket, services, fuel cards, fleet management systems and logistics software. Because the course is already charted: logistics and transport are intrinsically linked and, in this parallel evolution, the future of the market and its professionals is at stake.
