LNG and BioGNL, the readily available, cost-effectiveand sustainable solution for the decarbonization of freight transportation.
Road Transport is responsible for 25% of Italy's annual CO2 emissions and, out of these, heavy freight transportation above 12t, while accounting for only 1-2% of the circulating fleet, is responsible for about 15% of them. In order to meet the challenging decarbonization targets imposed by the European Union, it is therefore essential to focus the effort on this market segment with a technology-neutral approach that allows all available solutions to be exploited. Freight transportation with (Bio)LNG-fueled vehicles represents one of the solutions to the problem, it is in fact:
• Environmentally sustainable, the sustainability of which is now ensured by the recent introduction of Origin's Guarantees for Biomethane
• Immediately available, with mature vehicular technology and a widespread refueling infrastructure
• Economical compared to other alternative vectors, while also being highly convenient compared to traditional diesel fuel
